Applications of 10G EML SFP+ Products

EML modules are equipped with a TEC (Thermoelectric Cooler) for precise laser temperature control and adopt external modulators. This design enables 10G EML modules to achieve a maximum transmission distance of 80 km. Below is a brief introduction to three applications of EML products and Moduletek’s 10G EML SFP+ product series:
1. TDM Module Application
The TDM products in the EML product line include ER (40 km) 1550 nm and ZR (80 km) 1550 nm models. They are suitable for scenarios with relatively long fiber links (generally over 30 km) and high insertion loss.

2. CWDM Module Application
CWDM modules are usually used in conjunction with CWDM wavelength division multiplexers. Over 2 fibers, they can transmit multiple 10G service channels (for example, using ZR-CWDM modules, 8×10G services can be transmitted). At the transmitting end, 8 wavelengths are coupled into a single fiber via wavelength division multiplexing, and at the receiving end, the 8 wavelengths are separated by a demultiplexer. The application of CWDM modules can effectively enhance fiber utilization efficiency, thereby saving fiber resources and reducing deployment costs. Since CWDM wavelengths cannot be amplified by EDFAs (Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers), the transmission distance is relatively limited (typically up to 80 km).

3. DWDM Module Application
DWDM modules are usually used together with DWDM wavelength division multiplexers. Over 2 fibers, a maximum of 40×10G services can be transmitted using 100 GHz DWDM modules and wavelength division multiplexers.
The application of DWDM modules can significantly improve fiber utilization—only one pair of fibers (2 fibers) is required to transmit 40×10G bandwidth, effectively conserving fiber resources and lowering operational costs. The DWDM wavelength range is 1525 nm–1565 nm, which can be amplified by EDFAs. If DCMs (Dispersion Compensation Modules) are added for fiber link dispersion compensation, the application fiber link distance can reach over 100 km.
