Huawei Switch Password Recovery Guidelines

When users log in to a switch via the console port, they usually configure a console user account and password. This password is used for authentication and preventing unauthorized access, thereby maintaining operational security and protecting data. What should you do if this password is forgotten?

Moduletek Laboratory takes the Huawei S5700S-28P-LI-AC switch as an example to demonstrate how to log in when the console user password of a Huawei switch is forgotten.

• Operation Steps

1. Perform a hot reboot of the switch. When the corresponding message is displayed on the interface, press the key combination promptly:

Ctrl+B

Enter BOOTROM mode.

2. Enter the default BOOTROM/BootLoad password to access the main menu (two optional passwords):

3. In the BootROM menu, select "7" and choose

Clear password for console user

to clear the console user password.

4. In the BootROM menu, select "1"

Boot with default mode

and boot the device in default mode.

5. After the switch finishes booting, you can directly reset the console password. After logging into the user mode, run the configuration save command:

save

The configuration takes effect immediately.
