Araknis AN-310-SW-R-8-PoE Switch Showcase

SnapAV is a U.S.-based manufacturer and distributor of audio/video (A/V), surveillance, networking, and remote management solutions, and Araknis Networks, a brand of SnapAV, specializes in professional-grade networking and infrastructure solutions for residential and commercial environments. Araknis offers OvrC, a cloud-based remote management platform that provides users with remote monitoring, real-time notifications, remote reboot and maintenance options such as remote configuration editing, firmware updates and more.
Moduletek Laboratory purchased an Araknis AN-310-SW-R-8-PoE switch to test the 1G SFP product line, and the following takes you through the unboxing process.

1. Switch unboxing
Equipment packaging printed with araknis logo and equipment model number, description (box directly printed product model number is still relatively rare, common is to post a label to reflect the model).

Equipment out of the box contains a host (with a built-in power supply), accessories including a package of screws, angle iron, non-slip pads, user manuals, power cord.

The front panel of Araknis AN-310-SW-R-8-PoE Switch is an LED interface status indicator panel; the back panel mainly contains 8 100M/1G RJ45 PoE ports, 2 1G SFP ports, an AC power access hole, and another reset button.

2. Switch System
Access to the power cord to power on the device, start without obvious noise; both the front and rear panels of the device are equipped with interface status indicator lights, allowing users to conveniently check the working status of the links.

Connect PC and switch with network cable, the default management IP is : 192.168.20.254, default account/password is : araknis/araknis, log in to the web management interface; the login interface directly displays the device model, suggesting that the default management IP addresses differ among different models of products from this brand.

Use SFP-GE-LX optical module of Moduletek to access Araknis AN-310-SW-R-8-PoE switch, access the patch cord, the module can be normal LINK, and the port indicator light up; GUI interface STATUS->PORTS can view the interface status, rate, duplex mode, and send/receive data; no optical module identification and DDM data information display.

3. Switch Disassembly
Open the top cover of the switch, you can see that the whole is divided into three parts, one part is the PCB motherboard, which integrates various main chips, resistors, heat dissipation and other devices, one part is the LED control board, and the other part is the power supply board, with the fan hanging independently on one side.

Remove the heat sink and you can see the main switching chip of the switch, which is RTL8380M of REALTEK, a switch controller with 10-port Gigabit wire-speed forwarding capability, supporting 8 ports of 10/100/1000M Ethernet PHY and 2 ports of SGMII/1000Base-X.
