Introducing the BCM84891L program-based 10 Gigabit SFP Module compatible with multiple rates

      This article introduces the Broadcom BCM84891L program based 10GbE SFP module host interface and network cable interface is rate compatible.
1. Host interface
      BCM84891L program 10GbE SFP module host interface is compatible with 10G XFI/5GBase-X/2.5GBase-X/SGMII modes, module adaptive host interface.
      When the switch port is 10G, the host interface of the module adapts to 10G XFI mode, at this time, the network cable interface only supports 10GBase-T 10G rate, and the transmission distance is up to 80m through Cat 6A or better network cable.

      When the switch port is 2.5G, the host interface of the module is adapted to 2.5GBase-X mode, at this time, the cable interface only supports 2.5GBase-T 2.5G rate, and the transmission distance is up to 100m via Cat 5E or better cable.

      When the switch port is 1G, the host interface of the module is adapted to SGMII mode, at this time, the network cable interface only supports 10/100/1000Base-T rate adaptation, and the transmission distance is up to 100m through Cat 6A or better network cable.

2. Network cable interface
      BCM84891L program 10GbE SFP module network cable side (RJ45 connector) and the other end of the module interconnection, can be compatible with 10/100/1000M/2.5G/5G/10G a total of six rates, but it should be noted that the rate of the network interface must be consistent with the rate of the host interface, and the host port will be consistent with the rate of the switch port, so when the module is inserted into the rate of how many? 3. Flow Control
