We have previously introduced switch system upgrade methods by importing system files via TFTP server, USB drive, and web interface. This document describes another method: upgrading the switch software by downloading system files from an FTP server.
The following example details the procedure for upgrading the system software version of an HPE switch using an FTP server.

4. Log in to the switch CLI and verify that the system software file has been successfully downloaded to the switch’s internal storage.

When loading an IPE file, the switch automatically decompresses it into multiple .bin files and uses these files to perform the system upgrade.
6. Reboot the switch using the following command to start the upgrade:
        HPE>reboot
Start to check configuration with next startup configuration file, please wait........ This command will reboot the device.

        Now rebooting, please wait...
7. After the upgrade is completed, check the current running system software version and the boot-loader version of the switch:
HPE>display version   //Displays the current running system software version
HPE>display boot-loader    //Displays the boot system software version
