TRENDnet is a network equipment manufacturer founded in 1988, with its headquarters in Silicon Valley, USA, and multiple subsidiaries in Europe and America. It develops and sells wired/wireless routers, network switches, fiber transceivers, wireless access points, and provides network security solutions and network deployment services.
        To further understand TRENDnet’s products, Moduletek Laboratory purchased a TRENDnet TEG-30284 switch. A simple teardown and analysis is provided below to showcase its internal structure.

        TRENDnet's 28-Port Web Smart Switch with 24 x Gigabit ports and 4 x 10G SFP+ slots, model TEG-30284, is a cost-effective switch for high-speed network uplinks or downlink server connections. A convenient web-based management interface offers features for traffic control, troubleshooting ,access control, and monitoring, allowing for network integration flexibility into an SMB network.
        The front panel features 24 × Gigabit RJ45 ports and 4 × 10G SFP+ ports, with no console port. The rear panel is equipped with a power socket, and ventilation outlets are located on both sides of the chassis.

        An RJ45 twisted-pair cable was used to connect the host to the switch. The default IP address is 192.168.10.200, with the default username admin and password admin. Users can log in to the web management interface to monitor and configure the device.

        After removing the top cover, the internal structure is divided into three main parts: a main PCB integrating core chips, resistors, and heat dissipation components; an LED control board; and a separate power board. The fan is independently mounted on one side.

        With two heat sinks removed, all key components are exposed. The main switch chip and PHY chips are located beneath the heat sinks.
