Reading internal transceiver parameters helps monitor link status, real-time TX/RX optical power, temperature and coding compatibility between transceivers and switches. This document uses Moduletek SFP-25G-SR transceiver connected to Mellanox SN2410 switch to show detailed query procedures.
Schematic Diagram of Transceiver Connected to Switch
Figure 1 Schematic Diagram of Transceiver Connected to Switch
1. View Port Link Status
        Run the command:
            show interface <interface-type> <interface-number>
It displays port speed, transceiver type and link status. Link UP means normal transceiver operation. Statistical data is available for fault troubleshooting.
Note: interface-type interface-number stands for physical port ID. Omitting parameters will show information of all ports.
2. Query Transceiver Identification Information
        Run the command:
            show interface <interface-type> <interface-number> transceiver
This command queries basic transceiver details, including module type, model and serial number. Mellanox certified original modules will display Mellanox as the vendor.
3. Check Transceiver DDM Diagnostic Data
        Run the command:
show interface <interface-type> <interface-number> transceiver diagnostics
It shows real-time DDM values and corresponding upper & lower alarm threshold ranges.
