Moduletek has previously introduced switch interface breakout and aggregation concepts. This article uses the N3K-C3064PQ-10GE as an example to explain how to configure QSFP interface breakout and aggregation on Cisco Nexus 3064 series switches.
        1. By default, the device’s QSFP interfaces run in aggregation mode. Only one standalone 40G interface can be seen when checking interface status.
        2. Enter global configuration mode and run the following command:
            hardware profile portmode <port_mode>
This command sets all device interfaces to a specified port mode profile. Both breakout and aggregation configurations rely on this command; you only need to adjust the port_mode parameter to switch working modes.
When enabling interface breakout, the system uses the first QSFP interface as the starting port by default:
            • Breaking out one QSFP interface corresponds to the first QSFP port, which is port 49 on the test device.
            • Breaking out two QSFP interfaces corresponds to the first and second QSFP ports, which are ports 49 and 50 on the test device.
After configuring the port mode, save the startup configuration and reboot the device for the changes to take effect.
        3. After enabling breakout mode, the original single 40G interface will be split into four independent 10G interfaces.
